Our cattle are raised on our Alberta grass pastures with no growth hormones. We take pride in how we raise our cattle and we also want you to have confidence in knowing that your beef was raised right. We specialize in Black Angus cattle and Corriente cows bred to Black Angus bulls, offering you a leaner, healthier choice without compromising on flavour.

Corriente cattle, also known as Criollo or Chinampo cattle, are a hardy breed that originated from Spanish cattle brought to the Americas in the late 15th century. They are well adapted to hot, dry climates and sparse vegetation, making them suitable for regions with challenging conditions. Historically, Corriente cattle were primarily used as sport cattle for rodeo events such as team roping and bulldogging, but today they are also raised for their lean meat. This breed is known for its agility and ability to escape from pens, showcasing its hardy nature.
Our cattle are pasture and grain fed for the best quality meat. They have plenty of room to roam and even come running when they hear Mark calling them.

Ranchers
Welcome to our cattle ranching adventure! Even though Dina grew up helping her family with their cattle business; a lot has changed since then. Mark's grandfather Max Sutherland started his cattle herd in the early 1960's. Mark's father Kelly got back into cattle in the mid 2000's and Mark took the plunge in 2016 purchasing some cows. Now the Sutherland Ranch has a cow - calf operation as well as feeder steers to provide good quality beef. We are rounding up our herd (everyone helps) in this new adventure to bring you quality, grass and grain fed beef. We hope you enjoy this new chapter at the Sutherland Ranch.
We decided to get into the cattle side of ranching to not only feed our family quality beef, but also due to Mark's love for cooking and smoking.
